Planning on receiving government support funding and technical commercialization assistance
Aiming to release a roadside rainwater drainage device next year

 

The startup club MT2, affiliated with Korea University Sejong Campus, has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘2024 Pre-Startup Package Support Project.’ The club is set to receive approximately 55 million won in government support, and discussions for investment with Korea University’s technology holding company are currently underway.

 

The Pre-Startup Package is a government startup incubation program aimed at helping prospective entrepreneurs with innovative technological startup ideas succeed. The program is overseen by the Ministry of SMEs and Korea Institute of Startup &
Entrepreneurship Development. Selected entrepreneurs receive not only funding for commercialization but also professional support related to business model advancement and prototype production.

 

MT2 plans to start a business with a 'roadside rainwater drainage device.' This device aims to address urban flooding issues, which have recently become an issue. It is designed to handle four times more debris than traditional flat grates while allowing smooth drainage. MT2 has already filed several patents and aims to mass-produce the product in collaboration with Sejong City, with the goal of launching it by next year.

 

MT2 has won various awards, including  Global Startup Competition, first place in the university's mock crowdfunding competition, first place in the 2023 Smart Mobility Make-A-Thon, excellence award in the Sejong Union Startup Competition. The club has also completed technological partnerships with multiple companies (STechm Inc., Naintec Inc.).

 

MT2’s CEO, student Kim Sihyun stated, “I am happy to have gained a great opportunity to realize our startup idea by being selected for the Pre-Startup Package. We will continue to develop innovative ideas and create diverse products that can contribute to society.”
