From September 4 to 6, Lee Taeha, the graduate student from Korea University Sejong Campus presented two research topics and simultaneously received the Best and Outstanding Presentation Awards at the2024 Fall Conference of the Korean Sensors Society’ at the Ocean Resort in Yeosu. Lee Taeha is affiliated with the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and is part of the Biomedical Nanoengineering Laboratory (BiNeLa), supervised by Professor Lee Kyudo.

The Korean Sensor Society (KSS) is a prominent academic organization in Korea dedicated to advancing research and scholarly exchange in sensor and related technologies. This conference featured oral presentations in 15 different areas focused on sensor technology. Additionally, academic events such as the Korean Sensor-Society of Mechanical Engineers IT Convergence Session, along with the Young Scientist Forum and Poster Session, were organized to encourage presentations from the next generation of scholars.

At this conference, Lee Taeha won the Best Award in the Poster Session for biosensors and the Outstanding Award in the Young Scientist Forum.

He received the Best Award for developing a technology (Quantifying Amyloid Proteolysis via Capillary Flow) that rapidly assesses the degree of amyloid degradation based on capillary action. Additionally, he won the Outstanding Award for his research on creating vascular-like scaffolds using decellularized leaf structures, which investigate the accumulation of amyloids within blood vessel-like environments (Decellularized Leaf Scaffolds for Studying Vascular Amyloidosis).

This research was conducted with support from the BK21 and ITRC projects. The project title is ‘Development of Hyperscale AI-Based Smart City Healthcare Technology Utilizing Multimodal Biomedical Data’ (IITP-2024-RS-2023-00258971).
