Korea University Sejong Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Center Hosts 2024 Eco-Up Fair

On September 25, The Korea University Sejong Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Center hosted the ‘Eco-Up Fair 2024’ at the Government Complex Sejong Convention Center exhibition hall.

 

The Eco Industry Convergence and Open Sharing Project is led by Korea University Sejong Campus, with Korea University Seoul Campus, Konkuk University, Yeungnam University, Jeonju Vision Technical College, and Sejong City participating in a consortium. The project began in 2023 with support from the National Research Foundation of Korea. Its aim is to foster ‘Green Technology Innovators’ in six key fields: greenhouse gas reduction and climate change adaptation, sustainable water conservation, resource circulation, pollution prevention and management, and biodiversity conservation.

 

Around 300 students and eco-companies involved in the project programs participated in this event. The specific event sections included the company zone, with participation from 26 eco-companies the startup zone, featuring new and aspiring companies the R&D zone, where students showcased their achievements from the Eco-Up Convergence Education. Additionally, Sejong City had a promotional booth introducing its environmental policies and practices for carbon neutrality and green growth.

 

Eco-companies participating in the company zone included Kyeryong Construction Industrial, Institute for Advanced Engineering (IAE), Green Whale Global, Nature E&T, DOHWA Engineering Inc., RENUERS Inc., BKT Co. Ltd., SAM BO SCIENTIFIC Co. Ltd., Saman Corp., the SamJin, SEJONG RAIN, Sejong Facilities Management Corporation, WARECO, ECORBIT, ECO Environment & Operation & Hanwha Corporation E&C Div., Yooshin Engineering Group, XISOM Inc. K-AD, Chemtopia, Pure Envitech, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), Korea Southern Power ShinSejong Combined Cycle Power Construction Site Division, Environment & Energy Solutions, Korea Conformity Laboratories (KCL), K-water, SK ecoprime.

 

The expert lecture in the eco-field introduced Sejong City’s infectious disease monitoring system using wastewater and explained sustainable urban environments. Additionally, there was a discussion on understanding ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and strategies for how companies should respond, along with shared case studies.

 

This year, Hanwha Corporation E&C Div., which ranked first in the wastewater treatment sector's construction capability evaluation for 2024, and ECO Environment & Operation, an environmental facility operation management specialist company, signed an MOU with the Eco-Up Center. This partnership aims to establish a cooperative system between companies and the project group, offering students opportunities for research and expanding their career choices.

 

Director Kim Young stated, "We expect not only Sejong City but many environmental companies to actively participate, and we hope this event will develop into a platform for nurturing excellent human resources  and a sustainable future."
