On October 31, Professor Baek Seungpil of the Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at Korea University Sejong Campus received the 3rd Daeju Bio Academic Award during a ceremony held at the Kim Daejung Convention Center in Gwangju. The award is presented to scientists who have achieved creative and academically outstanding accomplishments in the bio field.

 

Professor Baek was recognized for his contributions to the development and innovation of the domestic bio and biotechnology fields. His notable research achievements include assigning structural functionality to genetic material DNA and identifying aptamer forms for diagnosing and treating infectious diseases, developing functionalized proteins and peptides for biopharmaceuticals and biocatalysts, and conducting research on biomineralization and regenerative medicine using biological materials. Additionally, he has achieved significant results in eco-friendly new material and process research using wild-derived biominerals, as well as large-scale microalgae harvesting processes for carbon-neutral biomass demonstration.

 

Professor Baek stated, "I will continue striving to contribute to society through innovative research in the bio and biotechnology fields."
