Anticipating Local-Industry-Univeristy Cooperation to Contribute to Sejong City’s Sports Culture Development and Industrial Growth
On September 24, Korea University Sejong Campus Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation held a launch ceremony for the ‘Sports Sejong Forum’ in the main conference room of the Sejong City Council.
The ‘Sports Sejong Forum’, which is the first sports-focused forum in Sejong City, was organized by Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation to foster sports culture, improve the environment, and promote industrial growth of Sejong City. This forum aims to serve as a new community platform where experts from various fields, such as industry, economy, culture, education, tourism, and MICE, share insights on Sejong City’s growth and contribute to regional development from a sports perspective.
The launch event was attended by Sejong City Council Chair Lim Chaesung, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation Director Cho Hyunjae, former IOC Athlete Commission member and RSM Chair Yoo Seungmin, Sejong Para Sports Association Secretary General Lim Gyumo, Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation Director Yoo Jaehyun, and other prominent figures from Sejong City, who gathered to celebrate the forum’s first step.
In the future, the forum plans to undertake various initiatives through local-industry-university cooperation. These include support for the 2027 Fisu World University Games, development of sports culture content that reflects Sejong City’s unique characteristics, promotion of tourism content through sports, advancement of the MICE industry, fostering of the sports industry ecosystem to boost economic activity and create jobs, and providing educational and career guidance for specialized and club sports students.
Lee Yongjun, Director of the Sports Sejong Forum stated, “As Sejong’s first professional sports forum, this platform will play a significant role in fostering sports culture, enhancing the environment, and advancing industrial growth in the region. We aim to make sports enjoyable and fulfilling for citizens, thereby contributing to an improved quality of life and regional development.”
Director Yoo stated, “The Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation is dedicated to strengthening cooperation between local government bodies and universities to promote sustainable growth across various fields. Through this forum, we expect the integration of sports and local industry to present a new development model, playing a key role in boosting Sejong City’s economy and competitiveness.”
