On September 6, Professor Ahn Yongjin from the faculty of Public Administration at Korea University Sejong Campus received the Best Paper Award at the annual conference of the American Political Science Association (APSA), held in Philadelphia, USA.
The APSA, established in 1903, is one of the largest political science associations in the United States. It promotes political science research and provides networking opportunities for political scientists. Each year, thousands of scholars, researchers, and policy experts participate in the annual meeting, which serves as a major platform for academic exchange in the field of political science.
At this year’s conference, Professor Ahn presented a paper titled “Assessing the Effects of Government Shutdowns on the Inflow and Outflow Dynamics of the United States Federal Workforce.” The study empirically analyzes the impact of government shutdowns, caused by political conflicts between the U.S. Congress and the federal government, on the turnover rates of federal employees.
This research was conducted in collaboration with prominent international scholars, including Professor William Resh from the University of Southern California’s Graduate School of Public Administration. Currently, follow-up studies are being conducted to examine the various effects of government shutdowns on public sector employees.
