A Student-Led Local-Industry-University Cooperation Program for Shared Achievements

On September 28, the ICC Central Center under the Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation showcased the Brave Cup Cafe experience exhibit as a measure to reduce single-use items at the Resource Circulation Festival held at Sejong Lake Park. This exhibit was jointly hosted by the Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation ICC Central Center and Sejong City.

The Brave Cup Cafe is part of the Together, Green Sejong project, designed by the Sejong Citizens Policy Design Group, and is one of Sejong’s key initiatives to reduce single-use items. Starting in Boram-dong, Sejong plans to expand this project across the city. The Korea University Sejong LINC 3.0 is strengthening promotional activities to increase the use of personal cups (tumblers) and actively promotes businesses that offer discounts for using personal cups.

At the exhibit, visitors who brought tumblers were offered personalized information on environmental conservation, a stamp for participation, free beverages, and commemorative photo opportunities at a designated photo zone.

The Sejong Resource Circulation Green Youth Supporters, composed of Korea University Sejong students interested in local environmental issues, also participated. On September 23 to 24, as a follow-up to the Zero Waste Week event held at Korea University Sejong Campus, the supporters engaged in various activities, including expanding the Brave Cup Cafe campaign, promoting the Sejong Resource Circulation Festival, and raising awareness of local government’s environmental policies.

Yoo Jaehyun, Director of the Sejong LINC 3.0 Foundation stated, “This project was meaningful because students led promotional activities for local cafes, participating actively in planning and promotion. We will continue to expand experiential programs for regional development and work with Sejong Campus and local governments to improve ESG awareness and practices among Sejong residents.”
