On October 10, the College of Public Policy at Korea University Sejong Campus held the first joint forum with research institutions in the Chungcheong region at the Public Policy Building's main auditorium. The forum aimed to contribute to sustainable development for the nation and regional society through collaborative research and personal interchange between the Chungcheong region research institutions and Korea University's College of Public Policy.
Participating institutions included the Korea Labor Institute, Daejeon Sejong Research Institute, Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade, Korea Environment Institute, and Chungbuk Research Institute. The forum opened with a welcome speech by Dean Choi Hyeongjae, followed by congratulatory remarks from Kim Young, Vice President of the Sejong Campus, President Heo Jaejoon of the Korea Labor Institute, President Kim Youngjin of the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute, and President Lee Changhoon of the Korea Environment Institute.
The forum was divided into two sessions, focusing on trends and countermeasures for megatrends. The first session centered on issues such as demographic changes and workforce supply, job creation and industrial workforce policies in the AI era, and the carbon-neutral city designation system, with presentations and discussions. The second session covered topics related to fostering advanced industries for regional economic revitalization and addressing regional job disparities.
Vice President Kim stated, "We hope that this forum will serve as an exemplary case of academic and research cooperation, providing policy alternatives for pressing regional and national issues through communication and collaboration among research institutes."
